The Ford Ranger from 2001 to 2012 is one of the most popular compact pickup trucks on the market. In 2008, Ford unveiled the redesigned third-generation Ranger (2009–2011), which featured improved fuel efficiency, a revised exterior, and a number of new features, such as an optional 6-speed automatic transmission and a Rear Park Assist system.

Ford stopped producing the Ranger in the US in 2011, but it continued to be produced in other countries until 2012. In the US, the Ranger was replaced by the F-150, which is currently the best-selling vehicle in the country.
