The Avalanche could be had in a variety of cab configurations, from two-door regular to three-door crew cab. Interior features included air conditioning, CD player, power windows and locks, cruise control and tilt wheel. The interior was roomy and comfortable, with easy access to storage compartments, including a hidden bin located behind the rear seat. The Avalanche also featured generous cargo space with a tailgate that locked in either an open or closed position. The bed of the Avalanche was lined with a non-slip rubber material to help protect cargo from shifting during transport.
The exterior of the Avalanche 1500 no cladding model was designed to be rugged and stylish. This included body-colored bumpers and grille, dual chrome tipped exhausts, fender flares, and a monochromatic color scheme. An optional Z71 off-road package added a few more features, such as steel off-road skid plates, off-road shocks, 17-inch alloy wheels, and an optional sunroof.
