The Chevy Avalanche 1500 no cladding model 2003 to 2006 was one of the most popular and versatile pickup trucks of its time. It was designed to be a combination of a pickup truck and an SUV, providing superior utility, comfort and style without sacrificing any capability.
The Avalanche was available in two and four-wheel drive configurations, and featured a longer frame than a traditional pickup for increased cargo room. The truck came standard with a 4.8L V8 engine, producing 285 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. This engine was mated to either a four-speed automatic or a five-speed manual transmission. Suspension was composed of independent short/long arm suspension with torsion bars up front, and a solid axle rear with coil springs and a stabilizer bar.
The Avalanche could be had in a variety of cab configurations, from two-door regular to three-door crew cab. Interior features included air conditioning, CD player, power windows and locks, cruise control and tilt wheel. Front and side-impact airbags, traction control and anti-lock brakes were all standard safety features.
The interior was roomy and comfortable, with easy access to storage compartments, including a hidden bin located behind the rear seat. The Avalanche also featured generous cargo space with a tailgate that locked in either an open or closed position. The bed of the Avalanche was lined with a non-slip rubber material to help protect cargo from shifting during transport.
The exterior of the Avalanche 1500 no cladding model was designed to be rugged and stylish. This included body-colored bumpers and grille, dual chrome tipped exhausts, fender flares, and a monochromatic color scheme. An optional Z71 off-road package added a few more features, such as steel off-road skid plates, off-road shocks, 17-inch alloy wheels, and an optional sunroof.
