2016-2018 | Series Bolt Front Bumper
The Nissan Armada is a full-size SUV that first debuted in 2003 as a 2004 model. It was built on the same platform as the Nissan Titan pickup truck and offered three rows of seating for up to eight passengers. The Armada was designed to compete with other full-size SUVs like the Ford Expedition and Chevrolet Tahoe.
The first-generation Armada was produced from 2003 to 2007 and received a facelift in 2008. It was available in two trim levels: SE and LE. The SE trim came standard with features like a CD player, air conditioning, power windows and locks, and cruise control. The LE trim added luxury features like leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power moonroof, and a Bose premium audio system.
Under the hood, the Armada was powered by a 5.6-liter V8 engine that produced 305 horsepower and 385 lb-ft of torque. It was mated to a five-speed automatic transmission and could be had with either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. The Armada had a towing capacity of up to 9,100 pounds, making it a capable choice for hauling trailers and boats.
The Armada was praised for its spacious and comfortable interior, with ample room for passengers in all three rows. The third row could also be folded flat to create additional cargo space when needed. The Armada's ride quality was smooth and comfortable, thanks to its independent rear suspension and long wheelbase.
In terms of safety, the Armada came equipped with standard features like anti-lock brakes, stability control, and front-seat side airbags. The IIHS gave the Armada a "Good" rating in frontal offset and side-impact crash tests, though it did not undergo testing for roof strength.
One common complaint about the Armada was its fuel economy, which was rated at around 13 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway. This was on par with other full-size SUVs of the time, but some consumers found it to be a drawback.
Overall, the Nissan Armada from 2003 to 2007 was a solid choice for those in need of a spacious and capable SUV. Its powerful V8 engine, comfortable ride, and generous cargo space made it a popular choice among families and outdoor enthusiasts.
In 2008, Nissan introduced the second-generation Armada, which featured updated styling, a more powerful V8 engine, and additional technology and safety features. However, the first-generation Armada continues to be a reliable and affordable option for used car buyers looking for a full-size SUV. Its strong performance, comfortable interior, and towing capability make it a versatile choice for a variety of needs.
